Can someone explain why it is that Mannock's 73 "confirmed" victories has been de-tuned to 61 while Bishop's 72 are left to stand?

I ask this question not to cause trouble but rather because it appears that while both men's numbers are (and were) in question, it appears that Mannock's numbers have been more formally decreased while those of Bishop have not. Why is this the case?

Mannock's total of 61 victories (approx. 38 destroyed) is what can be verified from contemporary records. The 73 figure was published by Ira Jones, if I remember correctly, and took into account unconfirmed victories--I hesitate to say "claims" because apparently Mannock was somewhat indifferent to paperwork.
Note that even official documents are fast & loose with their wording. Bishop has been cited for "72 enemy aircraft destroyed" when in fact his credits included 55 destroyed and 17 other types. Same w/Mannock: "73 kills." For consistency within the RFC/RNAS/RAF universe, it's more accurate to refer to "confirmed victories" because even among "confirmed destroyed" there's almost always margin for error.
Break-break: I've had trouble getting messages to transmit the past coupla days. Please bear w/me if there seems odd gaps in some threads.

I guess Barrett annswered most of the question, however, the song lyrics go:
twenty-five or six to four.

The singer was refering to the time of day. He was looking at a clock in the wee wee hours and the time was either
25 minutes or 26 minutes until 4:00AM in the morning. Thus it was 25 or 6 to 4.
