Hello Dan.

I got a message from Rick Duiven regarding Luiten Luitjens.T

He wanted to know more about the man
according to him (or you) he flew the aircraft Albatros D.Va 7315/17 with Strolch marked on the fuselage.

actually I have him killed on the 22.08.1917 in the albatros DV 20245/17 (Obermaat Luitjes neergeschoten )

I have no 7315 for Jasta I
the only alb DV in the 7300's I have are arriving on 02.06.18 2 x Albatros DV a 7330/17 en 7332/17
thats it.

No back to luitjens.
He joined Jasta I on the 03.06.1917 together with V.Flgmstr. Brandt, Flugmaat Krieger and Flugzgz. Obmtr. Kulbe.

on the 08.06 he went over the head with his plane while landing. The aircraft was destroyed. I could have been the Albatros DV 4635.

He was shot douwn on the 22.08.1917 and crashed with his plane at St Pieters capelle He was buried at the cemetery of Bruges on the 27.081917

I have no picture of him, so getting one would be heaven.
The same goes for information on his plane and its reconnaissance sign.

I have however a very beautiful picture of Bruges cemetery.

So, i'm sorry that i can't give you more information.

I needed i have the KTB of 1.M.F.J.St starting 02.1917 until 15.09.1918, afterwards Fweet... nothing.

Hoping to have been of help

Thank you very much, I'll send this information to Dr. Klaus-Dieter Luitjens, he is researching a relative.

Hi dan,

Can you share the information on him. Would be appreciated.
What about the plane number: where did you get it. Can you prove its was this plane he flew.

If so, then there is a mistery because that plane according to my sources did not belong to 1.M.F.J.St.

Alain.

Hi

In the article of Marine Land Feld Jagdstaffeln in Cross & Cockade Vol 3/3(1962) by Alex Imrie and William R Puglisi there is a photo of Luitjens in front of an Alb D with some sort of arrow motife on the fuselage...
