Does anyone know a biography for Leutnant Walter Böning? He was form Oldenburg and enlisted in the Bavarian army before WWI. He was an ace who pre air service won the Bavarian Gold Bravery medal and as a pilot was the only airman to receive the House and Merit Order of Peter Friedrich Ludwig with swords.
I have read about him in O'Connor's "Aviation Awards of Imperial Germany in WWI", vol. VI but want to learn more.
