This should be right up Neville's alley, this is from a newspaper;

"J.C. Marduel, the well known French motorist and airman, who made many friends during his residence in Windsor, has joined the Australian Flying Corps, for service at the front. He went to Melbourne a few days ago to enter camp, with the rank of Lieutenant. While in this district Mr. Marduel made many flights over Windsor and Richmond and the surrounding country."

Marduel doesnt appear in AFC texts and most NSWSAS texts poit to Marduel and Gailleaux returning to France to join the l'Aviation Aeronautique. What became of Marduel?

Cam, Cam, Cam.........
Look him up on the Web. Go to www. naa.gov.au.
That gets Aust Archives. Then select The Collection, go to Recordsearch. Then click the search button, enter as GUEST.
Type in marduel, press ready set go, sit back for 8 references. No 1 AFC, CFS, sale of plane, all that gaff.
Play with Photosearch too.
Then try www.awm.gov.au for the War Memorial files.
Type in Embarkation Lists, go for the M section.
All there in black and white. While you are on the naa side, try the B2455 series. This is the Attestation papers and statement of service records. Nev.
