Well, yes, but I also understood that Brisfit was a play on the word "misfit." The idea being that a two-seater fighter was just that.

I was surprised to learn that Brisfit was a post-war nickname. OTOH, the Brisfit did serve until sometime in the early '30s.

The N-9 was a Navy float-plane version. *Does anyone know whether any of these were used in the war and if so whether there might be a way to tell from the serial number of one whether it was used there. *I have a data plate from one and am curious. *Thanks, *Jim
