Ok, here is the question from the newbie.
Can someone, DanSan maybe, tell me if it possible to tell what was the factory camouflage on the OAW build Albatros D III No. 2586/17 ? All i have is a one, bad picture, no top wing visible.
TIA, Cezar.
Oefag:
Cezar, Alb. D.III(OAW) 2586/17 had a two color camouflage of dark green an mauve. The upper and lower wing tips were were dark green and mauve inboard. The upper wing leading edge ^ the pattern is (along the trailing edge):
Dark green to the 7th rib from the left tip/ mauve to the 7th rib from the tip dark green to the tip. Crosses centered on the interplane struts. Lower wings; 4/12 ribs from the left tip, dark green/ mauve. |fuselage|
mauve to the 4 1/2 rib from the tip dark green to the tip.(along the trailing edge.) The slopes are wavy lines. The lower wing crosses are centered 800mm in from the lower wing tip.
Tailplane a wavy line across the tailplane about about 450 mm forward of the rear edge of the tailplane, forward is mauve, aft is dark green.
The rudder is white and the cross is centered on the rudder stern post.
The fuselage plywood is shellacked and varnished and is a straw yellow color. The fuselage cross is centered 1000 mm forward of the leading tip of the tialplane.
Happy New Year,
Dan-San
