Honor this day my Uncle, PVT William J. Balsley, 30th Sqdrn, 19th BG (H). KIA 7 Sep 1944, while a POW, on board the Shin'yo Maru off Sindangan Point, Mindanao, PI.. . . I have slipped the surly bonds of earth . . .. . . Put out my hand,And touched the face of God . . .Bill Suggs

It is sad that even those who gave up or had to gave up fighting were not safe from being killed. This is a forgotten part of military history.
