In a decent scale? None of this tiny little 1/72 please! 1/48 or larger would be ideal.

Brad..check Ebay. I see one out there (Item # 1669930445) that is 1/48 scale. There may be more, but that is the only one that came up on my search.

Brad, you're very welcome and it was no problem to help. I surf Ebay a lot (at work...when it gets quiet about 3 a.m.) even though I haven't bought anything off of there in awhile.

I do like looking through some of the old toys and control line airplanes that I used to have and wish I still had when I see the going prices on Ebay. I had two toys (an original Marx Ben Hur playset and an Ideal Robot Commando) that I have seen examples of sell out there for over $1,200 each!

Are you going to build it as one flown by any particular ace?

You know, I haven't really thought about it. It's more of something I just want... Maybe Immelman... but I'm not sure which aircraft are appropriate. Most of the early war aircraft were "shared" mounts anyway.

This is more "research material" than modeling for modeling's sake. I'm interested in the aircraft in general.

Yes, I plan to build it... but first I better see what the quality of that kit is like. I'm strictly a beginner at this model stuff.

When I was a kid (a looooooong time ago), one of my buddies and I used to build the Guillow and Sterling balsa wood and tissue paper models. We weren't professional builders by any stretch, but it was fun.

I had a Pfalz DIII, a Dr1, a Nieuport 28 and a DH-4 that I built. My buddy had build a Fokker DVII, a DR1, an Se5 and an Eindecker (that was a Sterling kit). It was a very nice model but they all eventually suffered the same fate.....after flying them as rubber band powered models for a while (most didn't fly all that well and they don't like crashing very much). So, we'd repair the ones that didn't fly well, take them to gravel pit close to my house and them set them on fire and fly them off the hillside. Several of them flew better when they were on fire than they did before. All of them burned gloriously..albeit briefly!

I bought another balsa wood/tissue paper model a few years ago only to discover that I no longer have the patience to build one. I may have to convert to plastic models...and they take up less room when you display them!

Brad, the the K&B Fokker is big and chunky but perfectly buildable. There are some scale and accuracy issues which are a problem only for the more anal among us. Reading your post I detect that you have not yet succumbed to AMS (Advanced Modeler's Syndrome), even if the use of the term "research material" is a worrying sign, and are still capable of building for pleasure, so you should be OK with this one. *

Hmmmm... actually the scale and accuracy issues would have some meaning to me... I'm planning to do a larger scale one that I'm building myself from scratch. Larger as in 75% scale, or possibly even 87.5% scale. My Roland plans got sidetracked (thank goodness) due to my "partner" in this effort deciding that the extra effort and expense were NOT offset by the extra seat... so, I'm back to the first, and hopefully simplest, plan of building an Eindecker. Did I mention that these were to be FLYING replicas, complete with me and my bud as pilots? Hopefully they'll be part 103 legal. (Ultralights)

IN answer to the earlier question about WHO's aircraft... I am pretty sure MvR started out in an Eindecker... that might make an interesting subject.
