I re-discovered some of my old handwritten notes with numbers (I guess reported by Neumann or Kroschel/Stützer).
The German Marine had 1478 (other source: 1551) planes at the end of the war. As well is claimed the German Naval Airservice took over ca 2200 new planes in the war and removed 1166 from the roles (stock). That means the number of available aircraft was increased by 1034 in the war.
So the Naval Air Service should have had 444 (or 517) planes at the start of the war. In fact there were only a "hand full" of planes in service 1914. 400 to 500 aeroplanes are either missing in the roles with the "wastage" (incl. accidents, writte-offs of obsoleted planes and combat losses) of planes or the real number of aeroplanes taken over by the Marine (Navy) is given too high in the (unknown) reference source. ???

Maybe we can find some "missing links", sorry "missing losses" for Graeme´s statistic here.

Is there one of the "Deutsche Marine"-experts out there to clarify the matter?

VBR

hi

not all numbers were used.
example: nrs 9301 - 9303 AEG R-type were never built.

There is a list in Heinz Nowarra's book.
Die Entwicklung der Flugzeuge 1914 -19148

by going throug it one can find the numbers who ere either not given (forgotten) or were not used (or were allocated but the planes were never build.)

Do you want me to look further into the matter and find the numbers who were not used.?

alain.
???

Alain,

so you think the difference came into being because some writers believed that all numbers were in fact given to aircraft?
I have a copy of the Nowarra-book but did not expect to find this kind of info there.

BTW where (or How) can I get your last book?

Hi Rammjäger

In the Tagesbefehl des MarineFlugchefs you can find monthly complete list of available Marine a/c.
In the daily TB you can find afterwards information of those a/c which were written off(no details given)..for the period from 1916 to mid August 1918(more shall exist..)
I havent gone through these list...but Peter Grosz probably has... ???
It seems that you must go through the KTBs for finding the
reason for the a/c losses....it´s a to much work.. >

Alain
I will also buy your new book as soon as possible...!

Thanks, Gunnar!

I guess I will save that task for later - I have already enough other work to do!

I had hoped anybody was already doing the job.

Hi guys.

The book on Seefrosta is finally finished. Only a few maps and the profiles still have to be deliverd from the US, from Todd Comeau. However due to the events in the US that may take some time.

It in flemish however and it stops where the MFJSt IV and V come into play. For those i still need additional information.
The Seefrosta is, what I believe complete. (I hope
On the other hand i only have some 30 pictures concerning the unit, which is not that much.

I have to find a publisher, but i whem im getting everything i contact the Flying maschines press. The have interest to publish it in English.

anyway, all new information is welcome.

Alain.
