At first I didn't like the new format at all, but now I think it's way cool.

I agree with Cam that the segmented threads are a good thing. And those who don't like off topic threads don't have any more reason for griping now since it's listed separately. So there's something for everyone... and it's easier to find what you want quickly. I always go from People to Aircraft to Other WWI Aviation to Off Topic, with occasional jaunts through the Medals and Games sections.

I like the new Forum better it gives me a "rear view mirror" so I can see who is on my 6 and what they say right away. I enjoy the emailed responses. All though I do miss the pandemonium of the old forum an the constant harassment of Billy Bishop fans. Remember objects in your mirror may be closer than they appear. :P

I wansn't on the old forum long, so I guess I didn't have time to grow attached to it. I like the new one much better.

I'm an occasional visitor, and was at the old forum as well. My feelings are mixed, but overall I like this setup much better. It took me a few weeks to get used to it, but now that I'm comfortable with the setup I can come and go as necessary and look where I want to look.

This section is one that I don't visit often, so I can spend my time in the more technical sections. Some areas are of no interest at all for me at the moment, or of occasional interest, so I visit those when the mood strikes me. I actually find this easier to surf and find interesting information, as I don't have to open countless threads that turn out to be something that isn't what I wanted to read.

So, overall, two thumbs up for this one. I hope that some of the posters on the previous forum will find their way back and start posting again. Hope springs eternal.

John

P.S. I'm STILL hoping for an open forum for those that sign the guestbook!

I was a bit resistant to the new forum at first but I find it has really grown on me. The 'New' feature that tells you whether there are any posts in a thread you haven't read yet is extremely cunning f'rinstance.

Maybe Scott could work it so that you can 'deselect' categories somehow, and keep everybody happy?

Vig.

Testing, one-two-three. Testing, one-two-three.

A cheap, sleazy test to find out if 250 posts is worth a promotion or if I still have to wait a while.

I'm pretty sure it changes at 251... not that I would post any extra "junk" to try to get there...

Gratulieren to Stephen, only our 3rd or 4th Scout Piloto, if I reckon correctly. (Shamelessly running up my own tally in the process.)
Man-o-man, 500 looks a loooooong way off....
