Religion came up on one of the other threads
right away a few freaked and said,"I don't think
we should talk about religion",which I always laugh at
when I hear that here and other places I post.
For me ,History and Religion are one and the same thing.
I want to know what happened when, and I want to know the truth.
I believe in nothing but reality , example the flood did that
really happen,I believe it did, because the Bible and many
other historical sources say so,I also feel there was a
Atlantis that seemed to go under water at the same time
the flood happened and we had the last ice age.I think
if we look for truth Religion will take care of its self.
I really feel make history your religion and you will find
truth and God.

I have to disagree with your timeline, Baron.
An eruption of the Greek island of Santorini might well have been the source of the legend of Atlantis, and it seems to have coincided with the events recorded in Exodus, explaining the climatic changes in recounted in that book (tons of red dust, settling in the Nile region, would explain the "blood" in the water, for example, and the choking fumes, born by prevailing winds, would have accounted for the death of livestock).
The melting of the glaciers at the end of the ice age caused a world-wide rise in sea level, causing the Mediterranean to spill over into the Black Sea, inundating coastal villages (there's archeological evidence along the ancient coastline, now underwater). This is considered by many to be the source of the story of Noah. Someone on an inland lake, hearing of the rise in sea level, would have taken that as a warning to get out, and constructed a sailing vessel to save his family and livestock.
Makes sense to me
I'm not denying the accounts in the Bible, I'm putting them into perspective.
The "Witch of Ein Dor" in the story of Saul.....I lived a kilometer from the spot for 10 years. Trust me.

Mike, comparing evidence of the Biblical flood could go on forever. I'll not challenge your beliefs and I do understand your POV, but will simply add that there is valid historical evidence to the contrary which can be interpreted in an entirely different light.

And Baron's brilliant words bear repeating regardless of your belief system:

"If we look for truth, religion will take care of itself."

I had the good fortune to have a college history professor who not only held degrees in history and theology but spent time on Middle Eastern archeological digs. His insights on the relationship between historical evidence and Biblical references were facinating. Not to mention that he lectured as if he was telling a story that he had witnessed.

Let me run this thought by you guys
and see what you think.
Water H2O won't burn because its ashes
from a hydrogen fire.
So lets say Atlantis chief source of energy
was Hydrogen and maybe thay had some
kind of Hydrogen bombs.
If you burned enough Hydrogen in the
atmosphere,you could make it rain
for 40 days and 40 nights, plus you could
burn Atlantis and drown it at the same time.
Maybe Noah sailed from Atlantis

I would tend to believe that a creator with sufficient power to design a universe and speak it into existence would have little difficulty making it rain without a hydrogen bomb.

Hey, guys....
It's been proven scientifically that anyone can make it rain by performing a certain ceremony.
All you need is a hose, a bucket, a sponge, and a motor vehicle.

I've found that the addition of wax to the "ceremony" seems to speed the results.

Thanks, Baron. Point taken.

I don't know if I buy into the whole Atlantis thing... flood discussion aside. Seems like the claims for an Atlantis could be easily explained from either side of the philosophical aisle... the flood of Noah explains it from the Christian side; the supposed "ice age" explains it from the other.
