Hey Forum,
I don't want to get everyone excited, but someone said something about wanting to see a series on World War One similar Band of Brothers, and I just wanted to let you know that the A&E channel made a network movie titled the "Lost Battalion" about an American World War One Battalion that breaks through the German lines only to find themsleves trapped. Just thought I should let you guys know about it. Its new and airs Sunday December 2nd at eight p.m. eastern. check it out at AandE.com. I doubt that it is as good as Band of Brothers, and I don't know if it's a series, but it's probably worth seeing. I'd like to see big production about World War One, do you guys think there is a lot of replica aircraft around to shot a good movie?

Saw the same preview. Actually, this was posted, I think by Mike Barram originally but died in the great crash.
I read the re-release of the book about two months ago and am re-reading it now so I can nit-pick the movie. It is billed as a two hour movie by the way. Don't know if they are going to do it in one shot but it looks that way. From the preview it does look like they are going to conform pretty closely to the actual events. They even seem to be going into the blatant prejudice against just about every ethnic group which comes through quite clearly in the book. For those who may not know,"The Lost Battalion" was the quintessential American hero story of WWI which faded from memory under the events of WWII.

Hey Bob,
I'm sorry, I didn't know that it was posted already. Thanks for the information about it. I think it looks good but who knows. A&E makes some good made for television movies. I don't knbow what everyone else thought but I kind of liked the adventures of Horatio Hornblower. I'm looking forward to seeing "The Lost Battalion". Do you know, or does anyone elso know of some World War One movies coming out on television? Any that have been made in the last few years?

Check out:

It stars Rick Schroder, who was on NYPD Blue until this season.
If it's anywhere near the quality of the Hornblower series, it should definitely be worth watching.

"The Lost Battalion" (actually elements of 2 battalions) does have some aviation potential: Bleckley and Goettler of the 50th Aero Sqn received posthumous MoHs for their resupply missions in support of Col. Whittlesey.

Helmut: Thanks for the heads up on this movie.
Mike: Thanks for the link.

Added bonus for me --> Rick Schroder. He's an NRA member.

Always like Ricky...ever since "The Champ"

It's weird I look like him and have aged like him too over the years, i think he's a couple years older than me.

I wish someone in Canada would make a movie about us in WWI, that was a very proud and telling time in our history.

Had no ideer that Rick S. is an NRA type. Maybe he got hooked while packin' iron in the Lonesome Dove series...
but I digress.
Ref. Canadian Great War movies: Seems there was a film in recent years about the Newfoundland Regiment, or maybe it was merely proposed and not completed.

I never heard of Schroder until I started watching NYPD Blue (it's amazing how your tastes change when you're in a relationship), but maybe he learned something from portraying a cop.
