All,

This past Saturday, on the 15th of December, I finally got my Bachelor's degree from Penn State -- ten years and three months (or so) after I started the process.

I feel good.

One of my gifts was a very nice Field and Stream watch from my parents that has a built-in E6B flight computer. Since I plan on starting the process of getting my pilot's license after I'm married in April, the watch was a very nice and very appropriate gift.

BTW, why is there a compass rose on my watch, and how would I use it?

Regards,

Thanks guys!

BTW, I found out how to use the compass rose on my watch:

Quote:
The compass rose can be used to find North thusly:

Align the North indicator with the 12 o'clock positon. Find a thin twig or blade of grass and place one end at the center of the dial perpendicular to the crystal. With the watch set to local time, move yourself so that the shadow of the twig falls midway between the 12 and the current postion of the hour hand (during daylight savings be sure to subtract an hour). The 12 o'clock position is North.

Find a landmark in the direction you want to go, walk to it, repeat.
Combined with the 24 pages of instructions on the E6B flight computer, I'm all set!

-Drew

Thanks guys.

I've got a Bachelor of Humanities in Communications. It fits nicely with my job in desktop publishing and web design.

Regards,
