Hello:

I received the following e-mail a few days ago, but have been unable to find anything to help. Can other Forum members please come to the aid of the family.

"Hello:Hi my name is James Sygrove. My father received the DFC during WWII and
we have no idea what he did to receive this award. Would you know where
I might find out this information. His Name was Harold A. Sygrove and
was in the RAF. He died over 20 years ago and took his story with him.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

James Sygrove"

I have asked for additional information and will post any I receive.

Thanks

Dave

Harold Arthur Sygrove, Pilot Officer. Service number 185215. RAFVR. 635 Squadron. "Gazetted" in the London Gazette, 17 Aril 1945, page 2027. No citation given.

635 Squadron was equipped with Lancaster III and VI aircraft. Therefore Bomber Command. The ORB will be in Air 27 in the PRO, award documentation is buried in Air 2 (you will need help from RAF finding the proper citation).

Frank.
