Gregoire : "We are in a book"
Then we must be true! How depressing.

C'mon guys,
you can't buy publicity like that. How about a thank you to Barrett for getting the Aerodrome into a book with international sales?
FYI when Coonts first approached Barrett for a war story he wanted to use "Duel Over Douai". Nope, too historical. How about a Korean War Sabrejet story? Nope to that also. Hence "Skyhawks Forever" is in "Combat". And a good read it is. Recommend the entire anthology for anyone whose interests go beyond 14-18.
cheers, Boom
PS don't know what the problem is with me liddle picture.

The URL for the pic is http://www.tidewatersoaring.org/DadWW1color.gif
Are you sure you uploaded the image to that specific directory?
Try again. I checked the target and got this error message:
"The page cannot be found"
You might have mistyped something in the URL, maybe a capital instead of a lower case letter.

Boom: Thank YOU for the nice words. And thanks to you & Puresome for the inspiration for the funnest part of "Skyhawks Forever." I refer, of course, to the segment titled "Manly Man Night."
The game is: one player mentions a Manly Man movie, to which the other player must respond with an equally MM movie, or preferably one greater. It's played by common consent and leads to very few disputes since identification of MM movies is distinctly a Guy Thing....
Loser buys whatever's going.
Examples: Fighting Seabees, The Vikings, and Taras Bulba.

*Well I'll be dog-gone. *"Combat" is a 2000 publication partly written and edited by Steve Coonts with novellas from 9 other military authors. My contribution, "Skyhawks Forever" is the entry that Gregoire cites. It's a passage involving couple of former A-4 pilots writing an endless epic titled "Duel Over Douai." (Based on fact!)

As if i didn't already feel self concious enough about my crappy writting skills (not to mention spelling errors which would embarras my 13 yr old)
Now I have to contend with the knowledge that we have proffesional writers on this list.
well..
actualy it's pretty cool - congrats *
I'll keep an eye out for the book

Mark: Don't sweat it, pard. There are at least 5 other book authors on this forum. Also being an editor, I can attest that several extremely successful authors are poor spellers and even marginal writers. I learned early on that the publishing business is about money, not literature.

You know of course, according to SOME Christian precepts, we ALL are in a book, upstairs.
