I'm perfectly willing to accept either the young or old earth theories.

Are you of the opinion that is it impossible for the earth to have been created on Sunday the 23rd of October 4004 B.C.?

What about Saturday, the 22nd?

Stephen, you could become forum ace of aces on this topic...

It takes 60 million years for a dinosaur to turn into oil...the gas in my tank does not lie. I'm going to go with the "old world" theory.

Someone always brinks up that the first "days" in genesis are not days at all. Indeed Heaven and Earth to be taken literally means they are seperate. Earth is not just our planet...perhaps, but all "Earth" in space. "Heaven" is a place in accessible from our Universe. Literally God could have created the universe in 1 of our "days" if you subscribe to the big bang theory.

Actually according to that guy who talks like Jean Cretien in the wheelchair, the more they find out about the origins of the universe, the more many scientists perscribe to a "creation theory".

Our "genetic" "Eve" was traced to africa approx 100,000(give or take some thousands lol) years ago. The old testament was written by Moses in what...ummm like 3000bc??? That's probably why the first parts of genesis are pretty frikin vague. Read a book on genetics, it's one of the few sciences advancing these days, they don't pull this stuff out of their collective ass.

No i'm not a scientologist. I do have an open mind.

I would be interested to know precisely how that was determined, based on the scientific method of observability, repeatability and predictability.

I had a MAJOR shock this week when I discovered that my dad has stopped reading[ALL the family read-it is just the way it is;and as far back as I can remember that is the way it has been!].So I dropped in a WW2 scource book for him and recommended that he tries my copies of [ah!you guessed ]Harry Potter which, funnily enough,my mother is reading[and enjoying she says].My problem is that he is into Wilbur Smith and as that is not my genre I don`t know of anything similar to attract him ???Any Help Appreciated

I'm not familiar with Wilbur Smith, but if your father is interested in historical fiction, I'd recommend "Gates of Fire" by Steven Pressfield, or "The Killer Angels" by Michael Shaara.

Or any of those thirteen Ian Fleming novels.

Tell me, please! Have they ever decided how many angels could dance on the head of a pin?

Michael its just as much"Madness" to not use the Bible
in your study of history, there is a good book called
"The Bible as History" by Werner Keller which is a good
bridge between "History" and Bible History.
What the sceintist call the "Big Boom",Angels and even
the Archangel call that event "Satans fall " the birth of
matter in the Cosmos. Only in man is there a fusion
of matter and Spirit.

We agree again, Dear Stephen. My wife, Mother R ,, has been teaching for 35 years and after a hiatus of 37 years in Sales and Sales Management , I have returned to teach as a substitute teacher. I had ten years in the class room before that. Kids are different today in many ways. Parents don't seem to have time for their kids today. Both work and are not home after school. Drinking and dope are very common. Parents expect schools and religious institutions to raise their kids. It just can't be done that way. Mamma and Pappa have got to get involved in raising their own kids. The big influences in kids lives today are their friends, pop culture, and drugs. I wonder why some of these young couples are so anxious to have children they practically abandon?
