Closing on the new house December 26th. I think that's a pretty good late Christmas gift to ME.

For those that remember, I dropped the first deal due to too many problems... this one is MUCH better... 2200+ sf, 4 br 2.5 bath computer room 2 living rooms and a 2 car airplane factory! Not too shabby at only $95k!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Brad

Where the hell can you get that kind of a house for that price?
It sure ain't Silicon Valley, and it's definitely not Seattle.

In answer to the above questions... Ft. Worth, Texas. Yes, we're a major city (although Dallas gets higher billing, it's really all one big metropolitan area) with all the benefits (and problems) associated with such.

Don't get the wrong idea. It's an older home (1979ish) and is far from perfect... but I am very pleased, I think I got a good deal. Lots of homes in the area with 400-600 sq ft LESS selling for more money. I just got lucky.

Brad,

My fiance and I are in the process of looking at houses now. My girl laughs, but I've been calling the garages on houses we're looking at "aircraft assembly hangers." I was tickled to see that you do the same thing.

Congrats,

"Older"? My father's house, purchased in 1958, was built @1920. I guess it depends on your perspective.

As you said old for a house is a question of perspective my great parent house was started in the 1550's, latter in the late 1700's a home was added and the last major transformation took place less than 10 year ago when the remaning non modifed part of the house was transformed for human habitation

Which reminds me of Charlie Weaver's "letter from Mama", in which she wrote "We had a fire in the bathroom. Luckily, it didn't spread to the house."

You guys must all come from money. I live in Northwest NJ. Bought our house thirty years ago for $18,900. (do I hear chairs falling over backwards?). Haven't had it appraised but similar houses in the neighborhood go for about $135,000. or so. Of course the newer homes are $300,000. to $500,000.

Brad, congratulations! You now have your own work farm. I predict a drop in aircraft production for the next twenty five years or so but there are compensating factors. Lots of luck!
