I'm with Kory--I like hockey. It's fast-paced and I'm mesmerized by the Zamboni's. And have you heard the one about going to a boxing match and a hockey game breaks out?

Baseball is OK -- I really only like it when watching it live and in person at the stadium. Nothing beats a cold beer and a nasty hot dog in the summer sunshine.

John Elway killed football for me. :

Basketball -- lost interest years ago.

I have been interested in finding out about Cricket in terminology that I can understand. *Any references?
If it's just a dictionary of terms you're after go to http://members.tripod.com/~sccwa/cktlist.html
You'll find it uses quite a few baseball analogies.

If it's something more remember to search for the laws of cricket. It's much too important for anything so petty as rules *

I do not believe there are rule in criket (after a few year in UK I have started liking watching criket) here is what I have understood so far.
1 Australia win
2 england lost most of the time
3 if the game is more thna one day long you dress in white with jumper, sunglass and painting on the face
4 if the game is a single day long you can wear you pijama

The only real sport game in world are rugby and polo

I have four sons who played football all through school. Their opinion was that soccer was played by the kids who couldn't make the real football team.

..."The only real sport game in world are rugby and polo "...

Rugby is played by men with odd shaped balls. Polo is played by men with no chins who bleed easily.

And they're both played by people with suicidal tendencies (well, perhaps homicidal if it's Aussie Rules). *The Indian Army used to lose a couple of officers a year to polo accidents.

Hockey is being ruined by the goons. *I went to high school at St. Mike's in Toronto, which produced a large number of the more famous NHLers of the 1960s. *I had a season ticket to the Junior B team. *Not long ago I saw a Junior B game between Oakville and Hamilton - it was all fights, including two game misconducts. *There's better hockey being played by the 11 year-olds in House League. *And as my son's coach told me, Junior B is like that because there's only a few kids (average age is about 16) who have enough talent to make the NHL, and the rest are trying to get in as "enforcers" (read goons).

Michael: You do have a point there.

If you want to see some really good competition in Football, Hockey and Baseball, let's introduce a North American common currency (the Dollar - no prefix) so that Canadian teams get to play on a level playing field with their U.S. counterparts. Why do you think the Blue Jays trade all their veteran players? They can't afford the salaries!

Hey Amy!
Please explain how John Elway ruined football for you. I always thought JE was a heck of a good qb. I saw his first game ever against the Steelers.

Peter L:
I agree, footballers do play with odd shaped balls. I find English football amazing, I think it is organized mayhem, both on and off the field. I am an American football fan, I have been a Raider Rooter since 1961, it's been a love-hate relationship!
Blue skies,
Dan-San
