Hooray for Captain Lewis,
Historical Researcher!
Jon Guttman's besmircher!
Hooray, hooray, hooray!

He set off in defiance,
FAA non-compliance,
And risked nine lives for science,
hey hey!

He's the one-eyed kitty
who drank in every meter--
"And Beaujolais by the liter!"
Hooray, hooray, hooray!

An author and historian. But I think he's mostly WWII and ACW. At least that's the image that comes to mind when his name pops up.

Al

WW1 or WW2, Didn't alot of the same people go again.
I will give him a try ! For months I couldn't get a congressman & one day heard one on the radio talking of this project & how he supported us. They think this is to political? ???
What gets me they are doing this all around important places!
It would be better not to name places of famous people if their going to take back the honor!
Right now I found Weir Cook college frats. They sound interested! Maybe someone in that group is a big wig? I heard that they look after their own. Both Weir Cook Sr & Jr. was in this frat.

If I remember, didn't Stephen Ambrose write the book, "Band of Brothers" the one the HBO special was based on?

Hello All,

I've just recently signed on to this site and interested to note discussion re H W Cook project. According to the Aerodrome Aces section (and elsewhere) Cook was KFA here in New Zealand on 25 Mar 1943 whilst flying a P-40.

I've researched and published details of all 4800+ deaths of NZ military airmen, also those of others who so died in NZ - BUT no info re Cook came to light during this work. Would have thought it rather unusual for a 51 year old to by flying a P-40, let alone killing himself in one in NZ.

Can anyone confirm details of his death, exactly where it happened, unit and circumstances?

Regards,
Errol
