During 1918 (and later after the Versailles treaty in Sweden) the Germans started working on a new AA-gun. First they tested a 7,5 cm gun but they changed to 8,8 cm after a short time. This gun was the basis for the pretty good 8,8 cm Flak or Pak of WW2. It would have been a dangerous weapon against the slow (and relatively low) flying aircraft of the pre 1920´s.

Just a bit of information (a bit away from the subject (like "cricket")).

Best regards
Volker Nemsch

Hello All,

Volker, those 88's were a very good gun against the faster, high-flying aircraft of the 1940's too. Probably the most versatile artillery piece of all time- AA, Tank-Busting, General Artillery, even mounted in the big tanks later in the war. Feared by everyone who encountered it.

Hannes, speaking of pictures, maybe you could post one of Sgt.Schultz guarding the henhouse...

Looks like we lost some posts in this thread too.

Gary, at the weekend I will do my best to find a pic with henhouse, Sgt. Schulz and a Jacobs-fighter but it can last a while. As well I have to add the henhouse was also populated by a goat - so the left space for a plane was pretty small.

Hannes,

What really happened to the fabric from MvR's red triplane? Now the mystery is solved! The goat ate it!

As usual, I suppose Sgt.Schultz says "...I know nothing."
