Anyone out there pick up the new Osprey books, SPAD Aces or Fokker DR1 Aces? How are they, as good as the first two in the series.

All of the WW1 Osprey Aces books are good buys. *Sure there are small problems, but with the esteemed historians working on them those problems are due more to editorial "mistakes".

I feel anyone interested in WW1 aviation is doing themselves a disservice by not picking these up. *Especially the Nieuport and SPAD books. *;D

The format for both books is similar with very short bios of the respective a/c type's aces, generally organized by nationality and unit. Same format in the American aces volume in the same series. Learned quite a bit about the late use of the SPAD VII and delayed use of the XIII, topic of an upcoming volume.
Some unusual photos--at least relatively new to me--add to the mix.
Great colo(u)r profiles, of course, a standout feature of the entire Osprey line. The artist for my last 4 Osprey titles was Tom Tullis, who does exceptional work with computer graphics. SBD, SB2C, TBD, TBF. It really simplifies the back & forth work in completing details.

We had a thread on this topic a couple of months back. In fact, Greg VanWyngarden (co-author of the Dr1 book) posted a request for feedback on these books.
If you dig back through the old posts you can probably still find it.
In any case
The concensous was that these are very worthwhile books

Greetings Nick
I just recieved my book Fokker Dr1 Aces ,and I can't put it down.I've seen photos that are new to me and information on Aces that I did not know. I only wished I obtained it sooner. You will really enjoy it... Best Wishes:

I have just purchased the Spad VII book, and the only thing that I wished it had was color profiles of pilots like most of the Osprey books have. But the overhead aircraft profiles almost make it up for me, and the profiles overall are excellent. I will be looking forward to the Spad XIII book when it comes out.

When you can buy a book for less the $15 its a good deal, when you can get that much information, it is even better. I logged in to Amazon last and ordered three new ones, one of the was RFC/RAF Aces, anothe was Austrian Aces. I forget what the third is. The Osprey books are a good deal!
Blue skies,
