Does anyone know what the markings just under the canopy on the Red Baron's plane were?

Thanks

P.S. Not the 425/17 number. The ones higher up.

Dear Janet,
The writing that you refer to concerns the weight specs of the aircraft; they are as follows:
(first line)"Leergewicht.---376 kg." (weight empty)
(second line)"Nutzlast.---195 ,, ,," (Ich weiss nicht was das bedeutet; maybe weight in peanuts?)
(third, and last, line)"Gesamt Gewicht. ---571 ,, ,," (total weight).
My source for this information is so absurd that I refuse to divulge it. But this should answer your query.
Always a pleasure to oblige a beautiful woman.

195 = I believe, useful weight.

Nutzlast = It's 106 miles to Paris, we've got a full tank of gas, 1000 rnds ammo, 1/2 pack of cigarettes, it's dark and I'm wearing googles.... hit it!

Hello Janet!

Do you think of the weight specifications of the Fokker Dr.1?

Leergewicht: 376 kg (dead weight, first line)
Nutzlast: 195 kg (payload, second line)
Gesamt Gewicht: 571 kg (total weight, third line)

Hope this helps!

Leergewicht means weight empty
Nutzlast means useful load
If you add the two together you get 571 = total weight.
Are you Janet Brandy from Ohio?

Thank you for your quick response. That's exactly what I was looking for. I'm sorry that I did not thank you sooner, but I had to be away on business. Thanks
