Billy H,

About 100,000 of the original glass plates are still held at the Imperial War Museum. They are probably your best starting place..but i believe no comprehensive index of these exists.

regards

Darryl

A cup to the dead already-
Hurrah for the next that dies!

Yea Drew, that's an idea. I don't know how closely the trenches can be modeled in the game against the historical trench system, but we can see what's possible.

Some team members were asking about trenches two weeks ago, in fact. I'm going to send a note to the team soon and ask if anyone's seen these and wants them.

Regards,

John

Apparently the Royal Geographical Society has a massive map collection dating back to the 1500's
which includes world war one maps and I believe trench maps.

Are you referring to The Aviation Bookshop, on Holloway road in London? When I was doing research last summer at the IWM library, I happened to ask the librarian about them and he said they had closed, sadly, as the IWM had gotten a number of books through them. Have they simply relocated?

The Aviation Bookshop is still on Holloway. It used to be Beaumont's Aviation Bookshop, but Jack sold it a number of years ago, and they changed the name. (sadly, Jack Beaumont died several months ago). I visited it last May (2000), and called them up to order the CD. So, they still exist.

Frank.
