Hmmm... I can't believe that US film industry will make a film which is not based on a US theme. Therefore it has to be a film on Luke or Rickenbacker or any other Hat-in-the-Ring or Lafayette pilot. The only other way would be a german hero, to show how great the enemy was against the war was won. Harsh words? Anyway - what did they made in the past? Is there any real good wwi movie? (Towel scenes ...I know). I really suspect that if there would be a film it would be nothing more than new propaganda. The only fim I could remember not showing this style was the film with Malcolm McDowell where the rookies where shot down within six days ( I don't know the english title). Stunts and a/c where not really great and there was a lot of mixture of old stories ( Mannock's fear of beeing burned alive etc), but the complete story was o.k.

With the special effects they have these days the aircraft would be the stars.I like Sire Dikheds idea of using fresh faced unknowns. It worked in'Piece of Cake'and'Memphis Belle'.
What about B Flight 56 Squadron as the theme, end scene being the dogfight with that bloke in the Triplane.

Ooops! I pressed the submit button and walked away. When I came back my browser said 'Page not available', so I pressed the button again. Sorry!

Ginger: I saw Memphis Belle. I liked both original B17 but the computer animated a/c looked like computer animated a/c. But I think the planes would not be the biggest problem. Maybe finding the pilots will be the greater problem to solve.

Wrong triplane. B/56 got Voss. Best ten minutes of ACM of the whole show (if you discont Barker).

Yes,after all the English Toffs had got killed off 56 had pilots from all Allied nations.I think there was even an Indian, wether he flew in his turban is not recorded.
As he was only a little squirt could I humbly suggest Danny DeVito to play Werner Voss?

My understanding is that Mr. DeVito would have to sit on a phone book to see over the coaming of a DR-1. I think for casting purposes, one would be better served by cruising a local college freshman class. Recall that line in 'What Price Glory?":
"Little boys! Little boys!" (With a towel...)

You know I've actually done a lot of thinking about this whole movie thing for awhile now, I was thinking that a great movie would be if you picked two aces each from opposite side of the trench and showed each of their lives, i.e. they are in a dogfight the two blokes go whizzing right by each other and the camera, which was following story 1 (ace 1). Starts to follow Ace 2 instead and it switchs up like that every now and again. Maybe, to much to work out though. I think the movie should be about Mick Mannock, he seems very interesting from what I've read, plus he's pretty easy to identify with. (and he's my favorite ace) Or maybe Ernst Udet he seems like a P.C. kind of hero, only kills because he has too hates to do it. When talking to the brass he doodles instead. Now Erich Hartmann would be a great story for a movie, his life has everything, Highest scoring ace of all-time 10 1/2 years in soviet prison camps, getting shot down behind enemy lines and making it back to the airfeld. And it's a total love story too, his one true love Ursch waits for him unwaveringly whole he is a P.O.W. for 10.5 years. Great Pitch cheif, how much ya want One Mill, Two Mill?
