Hi Fred,

The Baron's Dr.I had LMG 08/15 Maxim Spandaus.

The empty casings went out the curved ejector tube you described, and then they were simply directed away and into the air slipstream. They didn't try to reclaim them.

The Baron's guns had an improved version of the cocking handles, where if he wanted to clear the weapon completely, he would lever forward the side cocking handle two times. If he wanted to clear a dud, or load the weapon, he would use the pull handle at the rear of the gun in the cockpit.
