Lowenhardt's D.VII:
Yellow fuselage, undercarriage, wheels, tail goup, leaving rudder and rear portion of fin white. Crosses still visible.
Lozenge Wings, check serial 3 for correct manufacturer for the cheek plats and the correct lozenge pattern (4 or 5 color)

David,
Can you refer me to a profile or photographs that would allow me to accurately reproduce this color scheme?
Thanks,
Terry Crisp

Erich:
Ltn. Löwenhardt at the time of his death, I believe he was flying A Fokker built Fok. D.VIIF in the 4250-4300/18 range. Oblt. Aloys Heldmann, also of Jasta 10 was flying a Fok.D.VIIF 4269/18 with a BMWIIIa engine. According to the Karl Timm interview (Cross &Cockade, Vol. 2 No.3, Autumn 1961,pp209 - 213) by Alex Imrie, qoute: "He mentioned Löwenhardt's Fokker D.VII, which although often loosely described as being completely yellow, in actual fact only had the fuselage and tail unit in this color, wings being left in the lozenge pattern." Karl Timm was Voss' mechanic and served in Jasta 10 until the end of the war. In a letter from Alfred Wenz to Bill Puglisi,Ltn.Alfred Wenz of Jasta 10was the pilot who collided with Löwenhardt, quoting in part from Wenz's letter, ...-but in the same moment I saw a yellow machine (of Oblt. Löwenhardt).....
This gives you some factual information and I hope it is of help.

Erich and Terry:
Oblt> erich Löwenhardt's Fok. D.VII F42XX/18 was covered wuith 4 color fabric the rib taping was 25 mm strips of the 4 color fabric as in the Fokker Flugzeugwerke practice, dark pattern on the upper surfaces and the light pattern on the lower surfaces of the wings. The fuselage, tailplane, all struts axle wing and forward half of the fin and wheel covers were yellow. Black and white leader's streamers , 1.5m long flew from the wing tips of the lower wing tips and rudder. Side cowling panels on both sides had 3 louvers. No aft side panels, triangular magneto door both sides. Upper cowls were louvered with 6 louvers. The exhaust pipe exitted through the rear of the top right cowling panel. Ref. the above thread and a photo in Alex Imrie's "GERMAN FIGHTER UNITS JUNE 1917-1918, p.36
