I know its an old game but i just got it and there is one thing i cant figure out. In the campaigns when u start a mission not being the flight leader, the squadron takes off and just keeps circling over the airfield instead of going on with te mission...is there something i´m not aware of or they will keep circling forever? I can only go alone and do the mission but then im acused of braeking formation...any help? Thanks
Joao

Put your pilot on autopilot. That will allow it to take off and go on the mission.

I would also suggest that you go to Wings of Honor. http://www.wingsofhonor.com This is where most of the RB community hangs out, and you can ask questions and get multiple patches and upgrades.

Good luck, and enjoy!

Make sure that's "Combat Autopilot". If you put it on "NAV" autopilot it may continue to circle.

Definetly go to the Wings of Honor site. If you bought the RBII version (not 3d) then download the Superpatch and turn it into 3d. If you bought the 3d version the download one of the major Unofficial Patches UOP's, which give you dramatic improvements in plane modeling, squadron color schemes, etc.

Happy flying,
Barkhorn.

It may also be the type of mission. If it combat patrol over over own base then this is normal. It may also be an escort where you must keep circling until the recons arrive.

What year was this mission and was it near Douai?

In late war years near Douai, there is a 2-seat Jasta situatied waaay to close to the front, so when they fly down to Jg1 aeros, they fly really close to the front. I had a similar mission where they would NEVER arrive and i replayed it a few times on combat auto pilot and ate dinner watching the boredom.

Finally i started one with the intent to ditch my flight leader and just see WTH those idiots were doing. I fly towards their aero and about 1/2 way there i see a dogfight. 5 (or more) Se5a where slaying them. I can only assume this was happening every time(rare considering the random nature of the campaigns in rb3d).

Those RFC play Dirty pool.

I confess, I have that Jones too. I used to think that only two or three missions were enough, but now sometimes, I fly 5 or 6, just to hear "The March On Paris". The proud Moment when I am awarded the Blue Max... I've flown with Jasta 2, and 11, and cursed the D.H 2's when they barely stagger off the ground, when I am a 2Lt with 24 squadron under Lanoe Hawker. To watch those Frenchies in a Nieuport hang in vertical stall turn, carefully rip off a burst, just as they hang there, like an apple on a tree, and they stagger and crackle, spinning down, smoking...

Anyhow, be sure to use COMBAT autopilot, (Ctrl-A) and the plane will take off and join up with a minimum of stooging about.

Aha finally a control...Ctrl-a huh? And that will keep the planes circling over the aerodromoe or will they do something eventually? because i see the waypoints and the times for them and when i check the time in the watch we are supposed to be over the target and we are still over the aerodrome...there must be something wrong im sure...im tired of going alone and being shot down by machine gun fire.

Go for Cntrl-A. In theory, the flight leader may make one or two circuits of the field, just so that everyone gets off the ground and starts to form up. Then he will set off for your first check point, with everyone tailing along behind.
If, however, you hit Alt-A, the entire squadron will orbit until it runs out of gas. Alt-A is amazingly literal.
However, beware! If the stars are in the wrong Houses, Cntrl-A will climb a few hundred feet, and then slide off on one wing and crash. You can catch it by hitting "A" and resuming control, prior to impact.
