Russian Aircraft "Grig M.9"

While reading Aleksandre de Severksy's biography in the "Aces" section of this site, I noticed that he claimed 4 kills while flying the Grig M.9. I never heard of the Grig M.9 before. Was it a land plame or a seaplane? Does anybody have a photo? It's not often that I'm completely stumped.

Grig M.9 is the Grigorovich M.9 flying boat. It had Salmson 9 radial engine, pusher configuration, a crew of 2-3. Notoriously tail heavy if not running on full throttle. The Russians used it quite a bit at Black Sea and Baltic fronts. There´s drwgs and photos of it in FMP´s book on Russian Air Service. Also WW1 Aero has covered Grigorovich designs, also M-9

It was the Grigorivich M9, a flyingboat configuration, like the Macchi m5 of the FBA type c.WWW.ww1fighters.com may have some info on the type

Wasn't the Macchi M5 a copy of the Austrian Lohner types?

One relatively new reference on Grigorovich seaplanes is a series of three paperbound booklets published in Russia. There was a relatively recent review in an issue of Windsock on these. I've not been able to find a US diatributor for these. I'll get back with you on a Russian Web page describing these books. They appear to be less expensive than Windsock Datafiles.
