Hello Aviation Nuts!, Im looking to build / rebuild a full scale Sopwith Pup, (third build !!) Any plans out there? Anybody know where I can get my grubbies on a set? I think she's a simply fine looker, and if she flies like she looks, It'll be worth the effort!
Thanks!

Hello Avnuts!
thank you for the replies, nice to know there are still people out there who care!! Next thing, the 'Pup had either a 80 or 100hp rotary - not the most reliable engines or today the most available; any suggestions? Also, propellor suggestions? I'm in sunny South Africa and there's not a big industry here for the things?! Agian, thanks for the inputs...

Leo Opdycke at WW I Aero also has available on microfilm the "complete" original Sopwith drawings for the Pup and Camel. It's noted in the Master Materials List. I have a set intending to one day build a Pup, but bailed out trying to find suitable power. Dick King, who built and flew the Rhinebeck Pup praised the planes flying characteristics - light onf the controls, remarkably stable and as comfortable as any WW I fighter he had flown.

Good luck finding an engine,
Mike

USE an Russian MP14 Vandenev Radial. Remove the Redrive and run direct at 1800 rpm. The MP14 makes 360 at 2900rpm. about 165 at 1800. Should work fine. Go to the site that I had mentioned earlier.

The question I have to ask:

Is a "Pup" with not only a radically different engine type (radial vs. rotary), with more than 400% greater horsepower than the original, which must require significant alterations to the structure and CG, still a Pup?

I have an original Sopwith Pup prop if you need anything (measurements, photos, etc.) of that.
