When Udet, requested by von Richthofen, joined Jasta 11 was he flying a Jasta 11 Triplane? and does anyone know of any colors or markings( Lo )used by Udet while with Jasta 11. I believed I read somewhere that his Triplane had a blue tail.

Greg VanWyngarten and Dan San Abbott have 1 of his famous Dr1's in black and white stripes, with Lo! in red on sides, or the stripes in red and blue respectively by author.

IOTW, Gregs Albatros special has it with black and white stripes, and DSA has posted here that it is more likely red and blue i believe.

they would know more about it.

fwiw,
Ron

Bob:
Not known much is known about the Fok. DR.I Ltn. Ernst Udet flew at Jasta 11. We do known that he had a small LO! in a small rectangle on the left side of the fuselage, just below the cockpit. In this photo taken at Le Chelle, what is visible thefuselage has the standard Fokker olive brown streaked camouflage. The red and blue candy striped Fok. DR.I he had at Jasta 4 in May and early June. By the way when he aquired this Fok. DR.I, Jasta 6 was still flying Fok. DR.I machines, They did not transition to the Fok. D.VII until early June.
