This may have been mentioned in an earlier Bishop thread (I couldn't keep up with all of them) but has anyone commented on the story which appeared in "The Courage of The Early Morning" pp.174-175. The author, Bishop's son, describes his father's 1928 visit to Berlin, and his warm reception by Udet, Goering,et al. Apparently he was made the first and only foreign member of the German Ace Association.
Is this factual? If so, it would appear that his German opponents thought more of him then some of this site's members flying their computers in 2001!

Terry: You are right, Terry. THere is even a photo in Chadderton's "Hanging a Legend" which shows Bishop seated between Goering and Udet. I've read that that 'Eagles' asssociation thought more of Bishop than they did of Hermann.

there is 2 photos in Udets book 'ace of the iron cross'. 1 of them is Rickenbacker, the other is, yep, Billy Bishop. both signed by the pictures subjects to Udet.
