Was just reading about A-H ace Julius Arigi shooting down (with the help of Maier and Kiss) 3 big Caproni's in one mission. I was wondering were there any other big days (2+ Victories) against the big bombers .... i.e Gothas, Capronis, etc. ? Any nation - any flier. I don't mean multiple victories over recon types - just the big'uns.

Thanks.......John

John,

On 18/2/16 A-H Ace Heinrich Kostrba of Flik 4 was credited with downing 3 Italian aircraft...

2 of them were Caproni Ca1 bombers (serial # Ca.478 and Ca703).

Kostrba was flying Fokker Eindecker #03.51.

Not a bad days work!

in a Fokker monoplane? Wow! not bad at all! of course, relatively speaking it might have been much better at the time this was accomplished, but I thought the old E.I-III series was on the outs at that time.

Fokker monoplanes were used by the kuk LFT until august 1916 on the Italian front when they were shifted to the Eastern Front. Brandenburg D1 and C1 took their place.

Didn't Arch Whitehouse blast a Gotha or two out of the sky? He seems to have done just about everything else (including getting shot down by Richthofen - why should Hartney be the only one, right?). Sorry, that was pretty mean I guess....
