Hi All,
I just wanted to thank everyone for their excelent suggestions. I talked to my sister-in-law's class this morning, and related the story of McLeod winning the VC (as well as a few other interesting topics). I think it went well, and they asked some pretty good questions. The question that most amused my sister-in-law was on how I learned all this stuff. Apparently, they were amazed that someone would actually read about history for the fun of it! |

I, too, am sorry that I missed the suggestion time. If you had a whole week, I'd have laid out a big list of things to discuss. One class isn't that much time to hook students on the subject.

The story of Felix Graf von Luckner is a very interesting story. It can be found in Lowell Thomas'book, "Count Luckner, the Sea Devil. Seems the Count took a sailing ship and raided Allied shipping before being wrecked. It's a good story and the students like it.
