Hi All,

I just wanted to thank everyone for their excelent
suggestions.
I talked to my sister-in-law's class this morning, and related the story of McLeod winning the VC (as well as a few other interesting topics). I think it went well, and they asked some pretty good questions. The question that most amused my
sister-in-law was on how I learned all this stuff. Apparently, they were amazed that someone would actually read about history for the fun of it!

Sorry I missed suggesting anything at the time Charles, but just in case for 'next time'...

It didn't occur to me until your mention of McLeod. Good job on the teaching assignment btw.
Keep spreading the word Brother!

I, too, am sorry that I missed the suggestion time. If you had a whole week, I'd have laid out a big list of things to discuss. One class isn't that much time to hook students on the subject.

Tell me, did you have anyone come up after class and ask further questions?

Regards,

John

The story of Felix Graf von Luckner is a very interesting story. It can be found in Lowell Thomas'book, "Count Luckner, the Sea Devil. Seems the Count took a sailing ship and raided Allied shipping before being wrecked. It's a good story and the students like it.

Be careful with any of the Luckner's stories. They can not be proved and Luckner is suspected not to deal with the truth too exactly. He was a notorious story teller.
