I have a certifcate headed Austrailian Imperial Forces, detailing a promotion to a A.W.Poole to be
W.O E.R 3, this is signed by Gen Birdwood and dated January 1919, Can it be assumed that this service man was in the A.F.C ? any details please.
Julian.

G'day Julian,

The only A.W. Poole I can find any information on is S/Sgt Arthur Wyatt Poole, Regimental Number 35. At the end of the war he is listed as serving with the Australian Army Ordnance Corps. He returned to Australia on May 25, 1919. He enlisted August 18, 1914. I don't know if this is your man.

My research shows only three men with the surname of Poole served in the AFC. They were Lieutenant Alfred Alderson Poole, Private George Sydney Poole and Private Philip Henry Poole.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Andrew.
