Just been talking to a collector in the UK who knows where these can be bought. Anybody else interested in obtaining this kind of thing?

You can get a good re-strike Victoria Cross complete with ribbon for as little as fifteen quid.

See the thread about a week ago on pounds, shillings, pence, keeping in mind that the pound is now worth about 1.56 $ (more-or-less, check the business page in your newpaper).

correct me if I'm wrong but I thought 'quid' meant something like 'a couple of bucks'... so could I guess, rightly, between $25 and $40 U.S. dollars? this is assuming that 'quid' doesn't refer to a fixed ammount of money.

A quid is a pound sterling just like a buck is a US dollar.
