Being a yank, I do favor American Football (but also follow "real" football religiously, having played for most of my life).
Every American football fan who thinks "X" team is tough, should watch the beginning of a rugby match with New Zealand's All Blacks. THAT is the scariest thing I have ever seen.
Cricket has rules?

American football is for wimps.
Try Canadian football where you only have three downs to make your first and ten.
I've never played cricket, but know enough to want to give it a try. I'm taking a summer off baseball until the shoulder gets back into shape.

First, I thought Cricket looked like fun, until I found out they actually have rules for it. That spoiled it for me.
Rugby vs. American Football. I gotta question for you, how many players have been killed playing Rugby? And I mean DURING the actual playing of the game, not when some drunken mob in the stadium comes charging out onto the field... Opps, sorry, that's Soccer isn't it.
If you want a REAL game, try Basketball.
Regarding Rounders and Baseball, according to the NRA (National Rounders Association) it is played by MEN and women. Don't believe me? Check out their web site at http://rounders.punters.co.uk/history.html
Regarding Stephanie's William, he could do a lot worse than learning about BB. Who knows, he might grow up and be the one to solve it once and for all!!
VBR,
Al

Al,
You are really becoming Canadian, by mentioning the great game of basketball, a game invented in Toronto,Canada.

Maybe William can go even further and sort out the ongoing controversy of Allied claims versus German (recorded)losses. Talk about danger - could even be a Hollywood epic in it
Raiders of the Lost Records!

"basketball, a game invented in Toronto,Canada"
Hmmm.....I guess Dr. James Naismith and the Boston YMCA are all a myth. And the Olympic Dream Team was made up of Canadians. How could I have confused "The Star Spangled Banner" for "Oh, Canada"?
I can understand letting national pride run amok...but I do wish our neighbors to the North would at least apologize for giving us hockey.
Now...as to only having three downs to gain ten yards....perhaps there's something lacking in your defensive teams that make it so achievable.
(If anyone needs me, I'm hiding in the bomb shelter.)

Hi All,
Peter,
>>John, if the Germans played cricket there'd be a penalty shoot-out which they would always win. Dif you realize the buggers practice? I mean, harumph, it's just not on!<<
I have long suspected the cunning Teuton race, in an attempt to steal a march on their more sportsmanlike and honourable opponents, of this ungentlemanly conduct. The evidence that the Australian colonists are also not above this perfidious practice, viz. the touring Australian cricket eleven. Some people will stoop to the lowest levels to overcome the innate natural superiority and sporting prowess of the Englishman. The great W.G Grace was known to prepare for the most important innings' with a game of darts and a few pints of foaming English Ale.
Yours, not knowing what the world is coming to, JohnTB

Somehow I don't think that would significantly be any less painful.

Kind of gives a new meaning to the term "cold war", doesn't it?
I hear they're already recruiting for the Zamboni Corps.
