I am researching this office who was killed on June 7th 1917.
He was an officer in the Sussex Regiment and was part of 43 squadron. I understand he flew Sopwith 1 and 1 half Strutters and I believe that he was killed when his aircraft was hit by an artillery shell whilst he was on observation duties. Can anybody help with any information about him? Thank you. |

Capt Donald Campbell Rutter served with No 43 Sqn RFC and gained the Military Cross - gazetted on 11 May 1917. He was was killed on 7 June 1917, together with his observer, 2nd Lt J B Jackson, during the course of a ground attack operation south east of Ypres in Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter A8221.
