The subject title tells it all.

This would be a toss-up. "The Dirty Dozen" sucked. "Punto!" 11 white guys and Jim Brown winning WWII? Hah!
On the other hand, I saw one movie on TV with Telly Savalis (always Telly Savalis....unfortunately) that, I think, was called "The Battle of the Bulge". It was so obvious that the action took place in Southern California that I figure out what war they were talking about.
Oh, "Kelly's Heroes" with Donald Sutherland...another monstrosity (the movie, not the actor).

"that I figure out " should be "that I couldn't figure out"

Like there's a shortage of bad movies, much less bad WAR movies!
First one that comes to mind is "The Green Berets", with John Wayne. I've got this THING about propaganda, y'see . . . .

There were many late 60s and eary 70s flicks that had obvious blunders like SS officers with long sideburns, and, as Mike said, Southern California doubling for the Ardennes. Historical innaccuracy is another pet peeve.

This is much more difficult than it looks. All of us here are probably too close to the subject and and in any case get most of our movies from TV where we can zap out if it really is a turkey.

Craig though mentions a particular genre as especially bad, and I must agree. The late sixties and then the seventies spawned a whole raft of really bad war movies. The actors were usually way too old for the parts they played, vis Richard Burton as a platoon commander. It has to be admitted that most of them were British made but often with a B list American "star" whose presence was explained by passing him off as a Canadian. I know that they are favourites with some here, but I would include "633 Squadron" and "Mosquito Squadron" in this catagory.

Corner me and insist on an answer though and it would have to be "Richthofen and Brown"

cheers

Today the History Channel had a show with a segment on the first war movies (documentaries). The opening showed a bunch of soldiers in WWI-era uniforms, on horseback, charging the camera, revolvers a-blazing in the air, and the announcer referred to them as "infantry".
Duh!!!!!!

Some many bad war movies, so little time.

Problem is most in the picture biz do not have an appreciation for the genre and have to give it there idea of appeal. Recent bad movies: Pearl Harbor, U-571.

Real bad movies:many The worst OT movie: Richthofen & Brown - lousy script, A tall MvR with long hair?

I can nic-pic The Blue Max,but I will refrain.

I no longer recall the title (thank goodness for approaching senility) but I've seen an Alamo movie in which the defenders had Winchester 92 or 94s. (Hey, only 55 years adrift...like having Garands in the Spanish-American War) I kid you not.
Then there was a Nazi Zombie film; the US NCO had an odd weapon, combination of a Thompson and M1919.
"Midway", the 1976 version with Fonda, Heston, and Everybody, was ATROCIOUS. I mean, look up "egregious" in the dictionary. I stopped counting after 70 factual/historical errors. By far the best such film is Gary Cooper/Walter Brennan's 1949 "Task Force."
Worst WW I aviation flick: I'll second the nomination for "vR & B" but think it ties "Aces High." We'll have to have them face off in the finals.
