Actually I had not thought to check the aces list. It has grown and is quite extensive since I was here last. Still looking for markings for Springs SE5a or Camel and Lindsay's Spad XIII.
Springs flew camel "N" from 148th. USAF museum has a replica dressed in these markings. The unit emblem was a white triangle behind the cocade. There are also some nice photos of Camel with letter "O" flown by him of which he groundlooped; white wheel covers and overpainted PC10 on the cowel. "O" would have been "C" flight commander letter. Not sure of the history of "N" and I have never seen a photo of "N" but white cowel is shown on USAF replica with white well covers.
His SE5a is interesting in that it was lettered "x" on the fuselage and "T" on the wings, Serial D 6851, from 85 RAF. The wing was a replacement wing(?) YOu can find this plane in a squadron line up photo also well known and this plane is 2nd in foreground behind Bishops plane.
The 148th never flew operational sorties in Spad 13 as they were still in transition when war ended along with the 17th aero.
ps. Saw the other one on your list. I have not seen too much in terms of photos of 139th Aero aircraft. If you just want brief bio you can find a little info on those pilots in the book "Over the Front" by Franks and Bailey. 139th emblem was "flying mercury" painted in white on the fuselage.
If you, or anyone, locate some good photos of 139th aircraft let me know. I have been looking for photo of Putman's plane for awhile. Only saw one photo of him in front o f a Spad in the book "Over the Front" but it does not show any markings and may not even be his plane.
