All;
I think that maybe "Mother was just the first word they were trying to say, they just didn't have time for the second word.

Richard: LOL, ROTF...

Omni Magazine had a detailed article many years ago based on the last transmissions from doomed airliners. To put it politecly, "Oscar Sierra" featured prominently.

As for WW I:

"It IS possible to be lonely in a crowd."
Ltn. Werner Voss, 17 September 1917

Dang! Somehow Jim was concealed in that hotel room when Ursula...er, Kati...well, WHOMEVER she was...walked past the camera.
Then somebody yelled "Cut!" and The Towel was cleaved in two.
And we ran out of film...
But nobody noticed for a reeeel long time.

This is from Gordon's THE LAFAYETTE FLYING CORPS (published by Schiffer):
"Carl Dolan also recalled a patrol he had flown with Lufbery in which he had seen Lufbery down three of the five German planes he attacked. And yet, only one of Lufbery's victories was confirmed. When Dolan had asked Lufbery if it had not bothered him that so many of his victories had gone unconfirmed, Lufbery had replied:
'What the hell do I care. I know I got them.'"

'What the hell do I care. I know I got them.'
That pretty much agrees with this quote from Ronald Reagan:
"There are no limits to what can be accomplished if you do not care who gets the credit."
I wonder if RR learned from Lufbery.
