This is a great show, with some first class R/C models. If you are in the area, I highly recommend a visit.

If you can't make it on the 8th & 9th, Old Rhinebeck on it's own is well worth the trip too.

This is a great event that is made even better with the replicas doing their thing in the afternoon. *By all means, if you haven't been, try to go at least once. *I've been there three times ( I am 1200 miles away... >)and it's been great every time. *It's easy to run out of film or battery power when on the property, so plan accordingly!

Old Rhinebeck is a very special place. It's probably the last place in the United States where you can still count on being able to hear a rotary engine.

I took my parents there during the last season that Cole Palen was still living. It was Fathers Day, and so for Dad's "present" I sent him up in the 1929 New Standard for a ride with Mom over the Hudson Valley. (Although I must admit, I think Mom was more impressed.)

Several years later we discovered that our ancestors are from Kinderhook, just a "stones throw" away.

Re: Old Rhinebeck Jamboree
Guys,
This Jamboree was one really excellent show--some of the fine models there were the ones from our own DJ with his Siemens Schuckert D.IIIs and Albatros D.III, Nick Ziroli's fine Spirit of St. Louis and a whole slew of Fokker Dr.Is and Sopwith Pups...typical fly-in fare these days. The weather couldn't have been better, with pleasant breezes and non-stop sunshine.

36 hours after the last model landed, our whole world changed.
:'(
This fantastic event has become something from another time, in a surrealistic way. *The closest parallel I can think of is the summer of 1914, which was one of the nicest times that Europeans had enjoyed before "the War to end all Wars" began.

Here's to hoping for better times again---
