I have heard that when old members of Jasta 11 met in the years between the wars, they never invited Hermann Göring though he had been their CO. Is this right? Had he alienated himself so much from his former comrades at arms or what?
I would also like to know more about his friendship with
René Fonck and the effect that had on Fonck's former squadmates.
Can someone point out a good book that covers this?
Best regards.

From what has been posted on the forum in the past, it was Lothar von Richthofen who was the first and main one who wanted Göring kept out.

A couple of minor points of clarification, to the best of my knowledge. These reunions were of JG I, not just Jasta 11, and in fact, even included members who had served in any of the component Jagdstaffeln before JG I was formed.

Re Göring: Technically he was not a member of Js 11, however his victory (singular) was credited to Js 11, as that was the Stab (Staff) Staffel. As far as him being invited or not invited to these reunions, I have no knowledge.
