Need suggestions from any Replica Plans SE5a builders on the best set up for wheels. Bearings or bushings? *The plans call for bushings but I understand bearings hold up better. :-/ What has worked for you? *Thanks
Either one is fine. You don't have much of a load to impose upon them since the aircraft is rather light and it doesn't have to rotate very much, just on take-offs and landings. Most of the originals had bushings and as long as you kept it lubricated you had no problem.........a good idea for most anything. The main thing is, GET STARTED BUILDING THAT AIRPLANE. You'll never regret you did. Then fly it down to visit us in Texas. We used to keep one of the Replica Plans 3/4 SE5's hangared in one of our hangars for awhile but it's gone now. Don't know if the owner still has it or not.
Thanks for the tip. I'm already past getting started. Once i get the gear finished up I'll be about ready to close up the fuselage and cover. I also have a good start on the wings. I'm hoping to finish in about two years.
