I would agree on all points, Brad. EAA membership would carry strength for motivational purposes. Getting a news-letter together would be tough, being that so far the interest in this category of replicas is a national one. A website however, does show promise. I think we should start it here, and see where it goes, and if demand warrants it... then go one to a website or a newsletter of some sort.

There is already a WW1 Aeroplane replica builders newsgroup at Yahoo. *It's moderated by Dwight Rudder, who used to frequent this site often earlier this year. *(BTW, his 7/8ths scale Nieuport 17 replica is for sale, if someone is interested.)

To subscribe, just click this link: *
WWIAERO-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

It has a chat feature, files storage space for pictures, etc., and already has 50 members.

If I understand correctly, Dwight has been kind of busy, so there hasn't been much activity on the group lately. *I tried starting a regular weekly chat session for an exchange of ideas, but everyone there was too busy either building or flying!

Be warned, some people (including 7/8ths scale Nieuport designer Graham Lee) have had a tough time with *Yahoogroups. *If you can't subscribe automatically, Dwight can add you manually. *(Try the automatic first though, as it works for most of us...) * *drudder@netdoor.com
* *
Something to consider...

Best regards,
Dean *

Hmmm... the links didn't "link". Looks like it's cut-and-paste time!

Best regards,
Dean

No sweat Dean, the only way I learned all the tricks is from entirely too much time spent in front of computers. :-/

Check out Dean's first post on this thread, it explains what to do if the email doesn't work.

I believe you'll want to join the GWAA, (Great War Aeroplane Association-I "think" is what it stands for). They have most of the owners of replica and repro owners, now, as well as buffs.
With officers that have several decades of experience and contacts in this field, like Dave Watts, and Fred Murrin, and more recent flyers/builders like Ross Walton and many many more who have gone through the replica-building, flying and related concerns, you can avail yourself of a world of references and contacts. They also have a Newletter and dues are very low. Don't have the contact info at hand here. My newsletters are downstairs in one of those big piles! But Dave Watts was handling membership for most of the time, and should be able to help. I'm sure he is swamped right now, with Christmas (and smiling just like Santa as he moves out all those Christmas trees! Merry Christmas Dave and yes, we DO have memories that will last all our lives and make us smile). I'm thinking there MUST be an ad for them in WWI Aeroplanes...
