Egads. These guys are just 'up the street', and I didn't have a clue they were restoring a D.H. 4. Guess I don't get out much!!! I sent off a message asking if I could visit their workshop. Neato!!! R.

David, how has this DH-4 progressed since your last report in May? It really is a beautiful project. They've done fabulous work. We have a large Liberty on hand. Seeing this gorgeous airplane sure makes me want to fire up a bunch of guys and build one. We even have one of those large propellors with the scalloped metal leading edges.

Don Gray reports that finding suitable wheels and tires were a major problem. Shown in photo are 775 x 145 vintage Michelin tires on vintage 19" Michelin rims laced to replica hubs. They have found a source to grind and buff the tread off the tires to approximate original smooth 750 x 125 size.
