Hi,

the Richthofen family is a big one. In WW1 there has been also a General der Kavallerie Manfred Freiherr von Richthofen. In 1917 he was the commanding General of Generalkommando z.b.V. 53. This Korps was stationed within Armeeabteilung D on the Eastern Front near Dünaburg in 1917. Perhaps this is the LtGen. mentioned by northpool ?

VBR, Immo

Thanks for that, as I said way back, the whole silver cup thing is just something I stumbled upon when doing a bit of research on MVR for a piece of drama I hope to write at some point, and all this is new to me but very interesting! - New to it or not, I have to say that recent postings have been suprising even so, suggesting that the whereabouts of at least some of the 'cups' are known - Interesting in the extreme. Are there any photos of the cups taken at any time that are available anywhere?

Along with the afore mentioned victory cups I have confirmed that the von Richthofen family sold Major Lanoe Hawker's YMCA New Testament to the current owner of the MvR #11 victory cup. *I also corrected the previous entry concerning the actual uniforms of MvR that exist, also according to the von Richthofen family.
