Hi,

I have seen pictures of both the Iron Cross 1st class, as well as the Iron Cross 2nd class. Except for the ribbon that is normally with the 2nd class medal, I cannot differentiate between the two. Can anyone clue me in on the differences, if any, between these two medals? :'( :'(

As you say, there is no difference - except for the ribbon! Some of the EKI were vaulted a little bit. The EKII were always flat.

The 2 crosses have the same front, but the EK1 has a flat or curved back in silver with a needle or screw. The EK2 has the same appearance as the front, but in the black part it has an oakleaves cluster, FW, a crown and the date of the first Ironcrosses 1813.
