I have in my possession a bunch of Bishop's CITARs from 60 and 85 Squadron. I dug them out just because of these latest Bishop threads. These I got from the National Archives of Canada. I am not sure if these are all that remained of what Bishop filled out. They were copied from the files in the PRO in Britain when the Official Histories were being written in Canada.

I just found my copy of the above shown CITAR, there is a thin piece missing off of the bottom of it. And, of course, something is written on it. From what I can make out at the bottom middle of the CITAR is:
1 decisive ( A)
I can't make out if it is ( A) or (EA).
Not sure who wrote it, or when.

G'day Mike,
I confused the issue a bit, it was not Little's CITAR that was changed from my understanding, it was Bishops.
I have not looked at as many CITARS as Darryl, but I often wonder why Little and Mowle co-signed Bishop's and why Bishop did not co-sign Little's. I guess it is my nature to ponder things like that.
Andrew.

On my copy of Bishop's report, "Original Draft Sent To 13th Wing, 25/7/17" is written across the bottom.

Mike,
>Little wasn't too hot on spelling or punctuation,
>that's his spelling, not mine.
That is a Melbourne Scotch College education for you. If he did his education in a Sydney public high school, he might have ended up like Roy Phillipps ;)

May as well get in again before Vin or Darryl wake up.
Scotch College is a private high school, due to it's cost you have to be well off to get in. Little's family obviously had wealth as he travelled to England at his own expense and payed for flight lessons before joining the RNAS. Scotch College supposedly has high standards of education but in those days was probably more for networking, "the old school tie" network.
Given Mikes description of Little's spelling and grammar ... Roy Phillipps was a Sydney boy ( Little was from Melbourne ) and probably subject to the rougher public education of a Sydney High School. So it was a jab at those that live south of the border as well.
Roy Phillipps joined the AFC after he got his leg shortened by a bullet in the trenches in France. They tried to repatriate him to Australia but he joined the AFC as an adjutant and then become a pilot.
I asked my wife about an analogy in the US, the nearest she could come up with was Horace Mann vs Bronx Elementary or something of that nature. There is no direct analogy until University level, where a Harvard education vs Arkansas Community College might be appropriate.

Wings,
That isn't the actual bottom of the report, there is about another half inch that must have been cropped from yours.

Ok, so do you think that might explain why Little didn't seem to care for Bishop much?

Al
