Hello,
Last week I went to the library and got home with a Dutch translation of a book written by Enzo Angelucci and Paolo Matricardi about early aviation (1783-1918), but particularly WWI aviation.
They describe many planes - historical and technical- from Germany, France, Italy, England, America, Russia and Austria.
Reading about the Fokker Eindecker I came across the name von Gerstoff. He was -according to the authors- one of the early aces.
I asked myself: "Who is von Gerstoff"? I don't know him at all and not in the least as an ace. I searched for his name in
The Jasta Pilots and in
Above The Lines, but I found nothing.
At last I searched in
Casualties Of The German Air Service by Norman Franks etc. and came across the name Ernst von Gersdorf (25 may 1878 - 19 june 1916).
I don't know if it is the same person, but maybe someone has info on this matter..........
I am very curious.
VBR,
Jos
