Hi,

I found a Lt. Bekardt who was slightly wounded in combat on the 31st August 1918.
He is in a report of Grufl Küst. So he should be Kûsta or Schlasta personnel. But I think Schlasta. And if so, anyone ever heard about him or knowing is Schlasta I or II ?

Thanks and best from Regulus

Hi Regulus

Could the name be Eckardt..?

Was really the Marine Schustas officially renamed Marine Schlastas already in late August 1918..?

Hi Gunnar,

Eckardt ? It is possible. The Kofl reports sometimes have mistakes and typo's in the names Keiries-Kairies is one example that is found very often. Ludemann-Lodemann is another example.

It is a fact that by May 1918 the Schusta's were renamed Schlasta's. Probably earlier as on the 11th of April Kofl M talks about Schlachtstaffel Nagel - which is in fact Marine Schlasta II ! So the renaming may have been a lot earlier than generally is thought of concerning the both Marine Schusta's.

But very bizar the Kofl M listing concerning losses and victories still talks about Marine schusta's halfway august 1918. This is again very contradictive !

Even more bizar is that Schlachstaffel Nagel is formed on a not mentioned aerodrome and moves shortly after 11 April to Gistel aerodrome but is back at Uitkerke by half May. I even start to wonder if they ever moved to Gistel !

It's not really getting clearer is it ? ???

Thanks and best from Regulus
